New Year's Poem 2007

Shakti

With her hands, all grace and radiance,
she softens the world of matter and confusion,
leaving a stream of light behind her.

Is it light that emanates from those gentle palms of hers?
How does she merge with every heart of the world,
when no one sees her heart or even knows her name?

In her arms, she holds the realm of spirit and inspiration,
nourishing it like a mother her child;
sharing it to everyone as if the world were her lover.

In the darkness, where no one dares to go,
She dances shamelessly in ecstasy, her hair a tangle,
her skin warm; it is for you her heart’s joy expands into eternity.

In her presence, all time and space stand still.
There, boundless love comes effortlessly
and gently opens your eyes, heart and mind.

How does the spark of the Universe continue to exist?
How does it create with so little effort,
when merely a flame; short-lived, mortal?

With her feet, she is destined to travel the worlds;
to brighten the colors of life, to reveal love playfully,
to open hearts so that they may merge blissfully in her arms.

With her voice, of compassion and serenity,
she sings without shame, of her longings and hopes.
And the world dances to her words in unison, in love.

With her heart, a place of love and sanctity,
she seeks the fragrance of a passionate heart to connect to,
for without it she cannot feel or exist.

Without his light, her passion for life cannot breathe,
the worlds will cease to exist in her imagination
and without her play, seasons cannot change.

Don’t seek her out, just close your eyes, and be ready to receive.
One fine day, she will find you and enter your heart.
If you feel the sadness of life, she will cry with you.

And if your heart plays effortlessly in life, be assured
that she will join you in your play of love
merging gently, ecstatically with you.
