Traveling Again 2007

USA, Colorado

March 24, I left Sydney with a heart filled with joy, courage and beautiful friends to go back to the Northern Hemisphere and, inevitably, the colder climate of Colorado, my first stop. The first couple of weeks in Larkspur, Colorado has been cold and mostly snowy. Paul's house is out in the country on a dirt road, amidst the flat shopping mall-like townships between Denver and Colorado Springs, where shopping has turned into a self-check-out experience. You'd be tempted to call it boring surburbia. The gray and monotonous landscape and the cold wet climate was quite a shock to my system, when I first arrived here.

But though I miss Sydney's luscious green and its magnificent bird life, houses here are warm and cozy and spacious and I have no distractions to avoid my writing. I am excited about my next book, which I am giving birth to in this cozy spot. And I am learning to drive a Jeep on the right side of the road, which will give me some more mobility and excitement. So given a bit of time and the arrival of spring, I am sure I will make myself a nest here. Spending time with Paul is changing my life so much that I am not sure it does matter where I am geographically in the world. I am happy within. I feel my life is opening up to new levels. My heart is experiencing new depths.

USA, Denver

While Paul was working in Qatar and India, I got stuck in a serious snow storm with Rebecca our new room mate. It snowed so much, I thought it'd never stop. And then the electricity went out for 16 hours. Not sure living in the mountains in winter time is so appealing to me, really appreciate the comfort of city life :-). Then I was rescued by Steve and Cathryn who live in Denver and I stayed with them until the weather got better. This gave me a chance to see Denver and make new friends.

There are a lot of beautiful spots in Colorado; a few that I saw were The Red Rock Amphitheatre situated in the Garden of Angels, the Rocky Mountain Foothills, Rocky Mountains and the Continental Divide National Trail - 3,100-mile long, runs from Canada to Mexico, 14,000 feet high.

New York Trip

Then work took Paul to New York State and I followed. It gave me a chance to see everybody in the city, which turned out quite an emotional trip for me. Some of the time I traveled with Paul upstate. We basically went from one end of the state to the other and our trip ended in Boston, Massachussett. First stop was the Ithica area, then Wood Stock and the Berkshires (MA), later we went to Buffalo for a job that Paul had to do. And finally ended up in Boston. Quite a lot of driving for me, but it was great to see all of New York and travel with Paul.

Los Angeles Trip

Not long before my departing to go to Denmark, Paul and I took another road trip. This time we were going to Los Angeles, so that I could meet Paul's family and of course see a bit more road and yes, to visit a friend in Arizona.
